Most LVP installations are complete in one to two days. Here's the five-step process that gets you from estimate to finished floor with zero surprises.
Free In-Home Consultation
Christopher visits your home, assesses the space, and walks you through product options based on your lifestyle, budget, and design preferences. You leave with a detailed written estimate and no obligation.
Subfloor Inspection & Prep
LVP requires a flat, solid subfloor. We inspect for soft spots, high points, and moisture issues — and address them before installation begins. Getting the subfloor right is what makes LVP look and feel premium.
Layout Planning
We plan the plank layout before cutting a single piece — determining the best starting direction, handling transitions between rooms, and ensuring the pattern runs consistently throughout the space.
Precision Installation
Each plank is carefully measured, cut, and clicked into place. We stagger seams properly, maintain consistent expansion gaps, and keep every row perfectly aligned for a seamless, professional finish.
Trim Work & Final Walkthrough
We install all transition strips, baseboards, and door thresholds for a complete, finished look. Then we walk the entire floor with you before we leave. You don't pay until you're happy.

Is luxury vinyl plank truly waterproof?
The core of most modern LVP is 100% waterproof, meaning the planks themselves will not absorb water or swell. However, it's important to note that standing water can still seep into seams or underneath the floor if it sits long enough. Proper installation with correct seaming and transitions is what makes LVP perform in wet environments like kitchens and bathrooms.
Can LVP be installed in a basement?
Yes, and it's one of our top recommendations for basements. LVP handles moisture-prone environments far better than hardwood or laminate. The key is subfloor prep — we check for any moisture issues below the slab before installation, and we use the appropriate product spec for below-grade applications. Rigid core LVP is especially well-suited for basements because it is completely dimensionally stable.
How does LVP compare to hardwood?
LVP and hardwood each have genuine strengths. Hardwood is the real thing — it can be sanded and refinished multiple times and typically adds more to resale value. LVP is waterproof, more resistant to dents and scratches, warmer underfoot, and significantly faster to install. For areas with moisture exposure or heavy pet and kid traffic, LVP often makes more sense. For living rooms, bedrooms, and main living areas where you want a lasting premium material, hardwood wins. We'll help you choose the right product for each room in your home.
How long does LVP installation take?
Most LVP installations are complete in one to two days. Unlike hardwood, there is no acclimation period required and no curing time for stains or finishes. You can typically walk on your new floor the same day installation is completed. This makes LVP a great option when you need a fast turnaround.
What thickness of LVP should I choose?
LVP ranges from about 4mm to 8mm or more in total thickness. For most residential applications, we recommend 6mm or thicker for the best combination of durability and sound dampening. A thicker wear layer — the top protective coating, measured in mils — matters more than total thickness for longevity. We'll guide you to the right spec based on your specific use case.
Can LVP be installed over my existing floors?
In many cases, yes. LVP can be installed as a floating floor over certain existing surfaces, including old vinyl, tile, and hardwood, as long as the substrate is flat, stable, and within the height tolerance for doors, transitions, and appliances. We assess your specific situation during the free estimate and let you know whether going over or removing the existing floor makes more sense.
Is LVP a good choice for homes with pets?
LVP is one of the best flooring options for pet owners. It resists scratches better than hardwood, it's completely waterproof for accidents, and it's easy to clean. We recommend choosing a product with a thicker wear layer — at least 12 mils — for maximum scratch resistance if you have large or active dogs.
